In a grand effort to make the world around them a better place, seniors America Corpus and Itzi Davila have asked classmates to donate their empty water bottles.

Early in the school year, the Capstone students decided to make a greenhouse out of water bottles for their senior project.

“I’m really excited about it because I feel like it’s something the community and our school can learn from,” America said.

Construction teacher, Rudy Lopez jumped on board to help the environmental students with their project. He is now serving as their mentor. He is helping build the greenhouse by supplying the wood that is needed to build the greenhouse.

“I believe these girls are making a difference by using water bottles that are thrown away every day and they helping this Earth become a more beautiful place,” he said.

The idea is to turn waste into something that will beautify our planet.

“I feel extremely excited; this project is something I’m truly passionate about. I like the idea of showing fellow students why recycling should be something they do in their daily life. I want it show them in a fun way, which involves America and I recycled plastic bottles to make a greenhouse,” Itzi said.

Both America and Itzi are very passionate about the environmental project.

“This project we’re working on is so much more than just a project. It’s what I’ve been taught since I was little. Take care of Earth.” said America, “Because if we don’t who else will?”
