Senior Salvador Ramirez has been named to the middle linebacker 2nd all-state team. Ramirez is recognized for his 101 solo tackles, 28 assists, 14 tackle for loss, 1 caused fumble, and 2 fumble recoveries. According to his coach, David Gonzalez, this means he is one of the best linebackers in the Texas high school UIL 5A division.

“This is an award only a few athletes can say they’ve been awarded,” Gonzalez said. “Sal is a hard-working, dedicated athlete. He is football savvy. He recognizes formations and makes adjustments on the field.”

Ramirez is a four-year football athlete under the coaching and supervision of head coach Michael Uribe.

“I’m proud all of my hard work and dedication has paid off,” he said. “None of this would be possible without my team-mates and my coaches.”

The award is presented by The Associated Press.

“I am extremely proud of Sal for the success he has worked hard for.  He was a coach on the field calling the defense and making adjustments according to our game plan.  It will be extremely hard to replace him next year,” Gonzalez continued.
