Senior Elizabeth Schuch plans to pursue a career in childcare education. So as part of her Capstone project, on December 18th she invited students from McKeever Elementary for a little lesson they could both learn from. 41 first graders visited with Schuch to take part in the holiday reading lessons she planned. The students enjoyed every minute of the three activities.

“ I look forward to becoming a teacher as soon as I finish with all my studies, this is just what makes me happy,” she said.

Elizabeth is a senior and in the GROWL Book club, so she recruited members to manage and help assist all the children who participated in this holiday reading event. She assigned her volunteers an activity to help the young children. The different activity stations included reading, coloring and ginger-bread men decorating.

“I enjoyed having the station I was placed in because I got to see the children decorate their creativity to decorate ginger bread men,’” John Guerrero, volunteer senior, said.
